Best Web Hosting Sites For Artists

There are two different types of hosting – Hosting for professional businesses and Hosting for professional artists . Both require hosting but only one is actually worth your money. Which one you ask? Any guesses? It’s a popular bet. Hosting is important to your website! It’s not just about being able to stay up if there was an outage (I hope it doesn’t happen), or have a mailing service; it’s also about loading speed and customization.

Best Web Hosting Sites For Artists

Are you ready to send your art into the digital world but don’t know which provider offers the best web hosting for artists? Then you have come to the right place.

A couple of decades ago, being an artist meant struggling with putting your work out there. It didn’t matter if you were a painter, a musician, or a sculptor. You always had to depend on someone else’s good graces to display your pieces. Unless you were really rich and afforded to open a gallery all by yourself. But, we all know that young artists and money don’t go together often.

Today, things have changed. Thanks to the mighty internet, you no longer need to listen to some snobby gallery owner telling you that your work lacks that ‘je ne sais quoi.’

With the right web hosting provider, your gift to the world can be set on the right path. While there are many hosts that can help you with this, I’ve prepared a list of the 6 best providers that offer web hosting for artists.

Best 6 web hosting for artists: ranked

  1. Hostinger – cheapest web hosting for artists
  2. DreamHost – WordPress-oriented web hosting for artists
  3. Bluehost – beginner-friendly option for art sites on WordPress
  4. GoDaddy – slightly more premium web hosting for artists
  5. SiteGround – best premium option for monetization
  6. InterServer – affordable month-to-month web hosting

If you’d like to know more about what to pay extra attention to when making a choice on the best web hosting services for you, I have a list of things to consider at the bottom of this article.

1. Hostinger

Hostinger
FeaturesFree SSL, hPanel, and speed-oriented tools
Uptime100%
Speed511ms
Best forA budget-friendly, high-quality hosting for small-to-medium art websites

Visit Hostinger

Hostinger is the most affordable hosting solution you are going to find on the market. Don’t be fooled, though. Despite its low prices, Hostinger doesn’t disappoint in terms of reliability. Its ease of use and well-rounded services make it one of the best web hosting services for artists.

But what really makes Hostinger such a suitable candidate?

  • It’s easy to navigate. Hostinger uses its native hosting management panel called hPanel. It is very well structured and easy to use. Rest assured, you won’t have to sacrifice your time to figure out how it works.
  • If you’re looking for reliable and fast performance, Hostinger is among the fastest providers out there. Due to it using the newest hardware and software, performance is something you won’t have to worry about. More so, it has a pretty long list of data server locations (UK, Lithuania, Netherlands, US, Singapore, Indonesia, and Brazil) that you can choose from.
  • Hostinger also has excellent customer support. The operators are skilled and know what they’re talking about. So if anything goes sideways, you will always have someone to help you out.
  • Last but not least, the prices for shared hosting are the lowest in the market.

The bottom line is that Hostinger costs barely as much as a cup of coffee. But low price doesn’t mean poor quality. Its services are reliable, and its beginner-friendly hPanel should not give you any headaches.

Now talking about the plans, Hostinger comes with 3 options priced between $2.59/month and $9.99/month.

As for what the plans include, I must say that they are pretty inclusive. All of them come with a free SSL, custom domain, and an email account (at least one.) From there on, there are quite a few differences.

  • Premium – allows hosting 100 websites and includes, 100GB storage, unlimited email accounts, and bandwidth. This plan would suit you better if you’re looking for more storage or are expecting moderate traffic.
  • Business – this one gives you everything Premium does, plus double the storage, daily backups, and some advertising credits. This package is more suitable if you’re planning to sell your art online.
  • Cloud Startup – this plan include 300 websites, 200GB SSD storage space, 2CPUs cores, 3GB RAM, cache manager, free daily backups, and CDN. Pick this option if you’re planning to run a large resource-heavy site.

Best Value

There’s a high chance that you, as an artist, will need only one website. For that reason, Premium might be the best option for you. The plan includes a generous 30GB storage, and by choosing a 48 month billing period, it’ll cost you only $124.32 in total.

Hostinger performance

In terms of performance, Hostinger does a fantastic job. The uptime stands strong at the perfect 100%.

Hostinger uptime and response time monitoring

Talking about the average response time, while 511ms is not the speediest time out there, it sure does not raise any red flags either.

Now, if we’d examine a fully built website, we’ll once again find impressive results. When evaluating the loading speed, there are two factors to consider: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and Fully Loaded Time (FLT.) If both of those happen to be under 2.5s, your site has better chances of ranking higher on Google, and your visitors will have a much better experience (fewer bounce-offs.)

Hostinger page loading speed

In Hostinger’s case, the LCP and FLT are the same  around 0.9s. In short, the results are great and leave you quite a bit of room until you hit those unwanted 2.5 seconds.

What I like about Hostinger is that it has 7 server locations (US, UK, Lithuania, Netherlands, Singapore, Indonesia, and Brazil,) and by choosing the one closest to your audience, you can ensure optimal performance for them specifically.

The bottom line is that Hostinger is a cheap and mighty powerful hosting provider. Additionally, its ease of use is what makes it a good web hosting option for artists.

Pros

  • Very low prices
  • Easy to use native management panel
  • Fast and reliable performance
  • Great customer support

Cons

  • Short billing period prices are much higher
  • The entry plan does not include a free domain

2. DreamHost

DreamHost
FeaturesFree SSL, domain, domain privacy, and daily backups
Uptime>99.99%
Speed231ms
Best forHighly inclusive and secure hosting for art website looking to monetize

Visit DreamHost

DreamHost is one of the industry giants. Its affordable prices, WordPress-focused approach, and inclusive plans surely explain its popularity. This also places it among the best web hosting providers for artists.

So what is there to DreamHost?

  • The provider offers 2 very affordable shared hosting plans. Both plans are very inclusive in terms of resources, like storage and traffic, and tools like free domain, SSL, and automated backups. Especially considering the price point.
  • For easy site management, DreamHost has its own intuitive and easy-to-navigate panel. You won’t have any issues running a website for sure.
  • DreamHost seriously values reliability. For that reason, the provider gives a 100% uptime guarantee.
  • Lastly, the provider is really inclusive when it comes to free security measures. All the tools like domain privacy, Web Application Firewall, and automated backups guarantee your security against the most common threats.

In summary, DreamHost is very affordable and even more reliable. While great in most areas, the provider does have a flaw in its customer support – a live chat option is not available 24/7.

Now examining DreamHost’s plans, there are two  the Starter plan ($2.59/month) and the Unlimited plan ($3.95/month).

While quite a bit different, both plans include a free domain, SSL, unlimited traffic, and pre-installed WordPress.

The most significant difference between the plans is in the number of websites, storage, and email accounts:

  • The Starter plan allows hosting one website and includes 50GB SSD storage. An email account costs an extra $1.67/month.
  • The Unlimited plan includes unlimited websites, storage, and emails.

Best Value

If you choose to go with a yearly subscription, the Unlimited plan will be even cheaper. Only $2.59/month or $35.40 for the first year. The plan includes all the essentials, meaning you won’t have any additional expenses.

DreamHost performance

When it comes to performance, DreamHost is something to admire. In two months, it had only 1 minute of downtime. Sure, DreamHost is the only provider on this list to give a 100% uptime guarantee, but be aware, maintenance is not included. Simply put, its >99.99% uptime is close to perfect.

DreamHost uptime and response time monitoring

Its average response time rounded up to 231ms, and it’s great. Not even a half of the market’s average!

The fully built website’s speed test did not disappoint either. To read the results objectively, you should focus on LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) and Fully Loaded Time.

DreamHost built website loading speed test

Looking at LCP (1.4s) and Fully Loaded Time (1.6s,) both measures were speedy enough to leave you worry-free. As long as the time is under 2.5s, your website will fall under the speedy site category.

In sum, DreamHost is a solid option when it comes to web hosting for artists. The provider offers great reliability and performance, reasonable prices, and enhanced security. If you value security and budget prices, DreamHost has both.

Pros

  • Inclusive plans at affordable prices
  • Enhanced security features
  • 100% uptime guarantee

Cons

  • The support through live chat is not 24/7
  • No email accounts with the entry plan

3. Bluehost

Bluehost
FeaturesFree SSL, domain, staging, Google Ads, and native panel with cPanel
Uptime99.99%
Speed361ms
Best forBeginner-oriented hosting for smaller art websites or portfolios

Visit Bluehost

Bluehost is among the most popular web hosting providers, mainly because of its ease of use. However, there’s more to it too. The provider has quite a few features, like staging and Google Ads, that can make your website hosting a piece of art (no pun intended.)

So why is Bluehost fit for artists?

  • First, it’s designed to make your experience as effortless as possible. With an intuitive custom dashboard, you can succeed in creating a functional website in no time. The setup won’t take longer than 5 min.
  • Bluehost automatically installs WordPress for you, so you don’t have to worry about that. Sure, if you want to install a different CMS, you are free to do so too.
  • In case you’d like to advertise your website, all plans include $150 Google Ads credits. You can easily set up a small advertising campaign without leaving your Bluehost’s management panel.
  • For your convenience, Bluehost offers staging, which allows you to experiment with your site without impacting the live version. You can improve the design, change the site’s layout, or edit existing content. Once you’re happy with the changes, you can easily push the finished product out for the world to see.

The outline is that Bluehost is a viable solution in terms of web hosting for artists. You get reliable services, it’s easy to use, and extra features are very helpful in establishing a strong online presence.

Jumping straight to the plans, Bluehost offers 4 options with prices ranging from $2.95/month up to $13.95/month.

Looking at all the features, Bluehost has quite inclusive plans. So what does each one hide?

  • Basic – you get 1 website, 50 GB SSD storage, unmetered bandwidth, a free SSL certificate, and a domain. This plan is more than enough for a detailed portfolio or a small art website.
  • Plus – includes unlimited websites, SSD storage, and bandwidth. Alongside that, you get a free domain and an SSL certificate. This plan is best if you need that extra little bit more storage.
  • Choice Plus – this is similar to Plus; the only additional features are domain privacy and protection and automatic backups. So if you’re planning to monetize your work, this plan will be best suited for that.
  • Pro – while this plan includes everything mentioned above and an additional free dedicated IP, it is simply too pricey to consider.

Best Value

To create an amazing-looking website to show off your creations, you won’t have to spend a fortune. With a generous 50GD SSD storage, the Basic plan is more than capable of doing that without any additional expenses. By opting for a 36-month billing period the sum will round up only to $142.20 in total.

Bluehost performance

Looking at Bluehost’s performance, you could say that it does a really good job. Especially when it has no uptime guarantee. But this does not seem to be a point of concern when Bluehost delivered 99.99% uptime.

Bluehost's uptime and response time monitoring

The average response time is also just as great, standing at an impressive 361ms. Just barely over a half of the market’s average of 600ms.

When it comes to fully build website loading speed, Bluehost was pretty good but not as fast as lightning. To really understand the results, you should look at LCP(Largest Contentful Paint) and Fully Loaded Time.

Bluehost's fully build website loading speed test

In Bluehost’s case, these measures are the same – both LCP and Fully Loaded Time stand at 1.8s. And it seems like here you have nothing to worry about too. As long as this time is under 2.5s, you and your website are just fine.

Also, good to know is that if your audience is in the US, Bluehost’s performance will be best there as it has data centers in the US exclusively.

Needless to say, Bluehost is a good web hosting solution for artists due to its ease of use, inclusive plans, and extra features like staging and Google Ads. No additional expenses are needed.

Pros

  • Website setup takes no longer than 5 minutes
  • All plans include free domain and SSL
  • Free extra features like staging and Google Ads
  • Automatic WordPress installation

Cons

  • Data centers in the US alone
  • Slightly more premium prices

4. GoDaddy

GoDaddy
FeaturesFree domain, website builder, and cPanel
Uptime99.98%
Speed341ms
Best forPortfolio sites or smaller art website hosting

Visit GoDaddy

GoDaddy is a fantastic choice when it comes to web hosting for artists. While the provider is mostly business-oriented, you can easily make use of its generous storage and good performance to power a professional-looking website.

So what makes GoDaddy a potential option for your art site?

  • The provider uses a mix of a native management panel and cPanel for site setup and management. With an intuitive dashboard, GoDaddy is not challenging at all. However, if you feel more comfortable with cPanel, you have that option too.
  • one-click WordPress installation makes it convenient for beginners. Especially when GoDaddy offers WordPress starter templates for a quick website setup process.
  • If you have never created a website before, or the infinite selection of themes and templates on WordPress seems like a lot, GoDaddy has a free, high-quality website builder. You will find 20 modern-looking templates that you can easily edit. More so, you can set goals for your website. Do you want to get noticed? Maybe you want to have an online store or get bookings? Whatever the reason, the website builder will give you suggestions on how to achieve that accordingly.
  • All plans include a free domain. One less thing to worry about.

But overall, GoDaddy has earned its place as one of the best web hosting services for artists. Its ease of use and reliable services make it worthy of your attention. However, while good at quite a few things, GoDaddy lacks quite a lot when it comes to security measures.

Now talking about your options, GoDaddy offers you 3 plans with prices starting at $1.99/month and going all the way up to 14.99/month.

Now let’s take a look at what that money can buy. All plans include a free domain and a free Microsoft 365 Email for a year. However, only the priciest plan includes a free SSL certificate, so that’s that. Now let’s look at each plan individually.

  • Economy – you can host 1 website and get 100GB storage and unmetered bandwidth. This plan is more than sufficient for a single high-quality portfolio or small-to-medium website.
  • Deluxe – allows hosting an unlimited number of websites and includes unlimited storage and bandwidth. If you’re planning on having a lot of high-quality images on your site, this plan is the one.
  • Ultimate – this plan offers you unlimited everything (databases, websites, storage capacity, bandwidth.) More so, you get a free SSL certificate for a year and a free premium DNS. While this plan is the best in terms of resource and security, the price point is just too steep.

Best Value

It is very likely that you’ll be needing only one website. If that’s the case, the Economy plan is the one to consider. A highly generous 100GB SSD storage will be enough for a relatively big site. By choosing a 36-month billing period, the price will be only $107.64 in total. Important to note is that GoDaddy is no stranger to offering discounted prices, so keep an eye out for a special price too.

GoDaddy performance

GoDaddy demonstrated pretty good performance. The official uptime guarantee is the standard 99.9%, but GoDaddy delivered a pretty trustworthy 99.98% uptime.

GoDaddy uptime monitoring over 2 months

Its average response time of 341ms is just as good. As long as this time is lower than 600ms, it’s considered speedier than average.

After testing a fully built website’s speed, the results, once again, did not disappoint. To objectively evaluate the speed you should concentrate on two measures LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) and Fully Loaded Time.

GoDaddy page speed with built website

More often than not, LCP and FLT are the same. That’s the case with GoDaddy too. Its LCP and FLT are at 1.5s. A whole second away from the recommended maximum of 2.5s. Rest assured, GoDaddy is pretty speedy.

To further boost the speed, GoDaddy allows you to choose 1 out of 3 server locations. The choice lies between North America, Europe, and Asia, so you can make sure that the server is as close to your target audience as possible.

The bottom line is that GoDaddy, while not the most inclusive provider out there, it does offer pretty reliable and speedy performance. The entry plan is pretty generous in terms of storage too.

Pros

  • Uses cPanel for website management
  • All plans come with a free website builder
  • The performance is reliable

Cons

  • Lack of SSL certificate with most plans
  • Slightly more premium prices

5. SiteGround

SiteGround
FeaturesFree SSL, daily backups, caching, staging, and native user management interface
Uptime99.99%
Speed217ms
Best forPremium, speedy and reliable hosting for larger art websites

Visit SiteGround

SiteGround is a premium hosting provider that delivers very speedy performance, ease of use, and many additional features like improved security or staging. The provider is highly WordPress-focused too. If that’s your preferred CMS, this provider will deliver only the highest quality web hosting for artists.

Although this is the priciest provider on this list, SiteGround deserves every penny. Now, why should you consider it for your art website?

  • SiteGround is one of a few providers that are very performance-oriented. The provider only uses the newest and most reliable hardware and software solutions. The newest PHP versions, a preconfigured caching, and Google Cloud server infrastructure guarantee only top-notch performance.
  • While you can install any CMS you’d like, SiteGround pays extra attention to WordPress. Many additions like preinstalled and customizable caching, automated updates, and staging help to make the most out of WordPress.
  • SiteGround really excels when it comes to security. Not only does it include the basic tools like SSL and automatic backups, but also advanced options like a real-time monitoring system, web application firewall, and an AI anti-bot system. You can be sure that the most common threats are nothing to worry about. Especially if you’re thinking about monetizing your site.
  • Last but not least, the native user management interface is very easy to use. It also can be slightly customized so you could access the most frequently used settings quicker.

In short, SiteGround, while slightly more premium, delivers only the most reliable, secure, and easily managed services.

Examining the provider’s plans and prices, we find 3 plans priced between $3.49/month to $9.99/month.

Without exception, all plans include free SSL, emails, caching, unmetered traffic, and daily backups. All apart from the entry plan include staging too.

While quite similar, the biggest difference between the plans lies with the storage limitations and the number of monthly visitors. So depending on how many images you plan on having and how popular you imagine your site to be, you can choose either StartUp or GrowBig. At the same time, GoGeek is just a tad too pricey, while it doesn’t add much more value to an artist’s website.

Best Value

The best value for money for a single high-quality website lies with the StartUp plan. While the storage is not the most generous, this plan will be sufficient enough for a portfolio or a small art website. By opting for a 12-month billing period the plan will cost you $35.88 in total.

SiteGround performance

Looking at SiteGround’s performance, it is clear that the provider did not come to mess around. With uptime being at 99.99%, the provider is truly trustworthy.

SiteGround uptime and response time monitoring

And its average response time stands proudly at 217ms. Barely 1/3 of the market’s average. Fast indeed.

When examining the fully built website’s speed, SiteGround does not let up its good appearance. In this test, what we care about the most are LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) and Fully Loaded Time.

SiteGround page loading speed of built website

SiteGround’s LCP is just 872ms, while the FLT is barely 1.1s. Seems like the provider has more than enough wiggle room to hit the recommended maximum of 2.5s.

The cherry on the cake is that SiteGround allows you to choose a server location (US, Europe, Australia, Asia.) Choose the server closest to your visitors for the best speed.

The bottom line is that SiteGround is a premium provider. But the price you pay guarantees you ease of use and excellent security. This provider is a great hosting option for artists if you choose to monetize your site by selling your works online.

Pros

  • Extremely good performance
  • Easy to manage native management panel
  • Data centers in 4 continents

Cons

  • No free domain
  • Quite limited SSD storage with each plan

6. InterServer

InterServer
FeaturesFree SSL, automatic backups, and cPanel
Uptime99.99%
Speed662ms
Best forAffordable month-to-month art website hosting

Visit InterServer

InterServer is often overlooked because it’s not that popular, which is a real pity. It has no flashy marketing, but the provider offers plans with unlimited storage, bandwidth, and emails for low prices. That’s all you need from a good web hosting solution for artists, really.

But is there anything else that makes this host a tempting option?

  • InterServer is easy to use. The host offers the widely used and beloved cPanel for its website management. This panel is considered one of the easiest to use out there.
  • InterServer pre-installs its SSL certificates. So you won’t have to worry about that.
  • When it comes to plans, the provider applies a no-nonsense policy. It does not include more flashy tools. Each plan just gets you more resources and good security measures.
  • InterServer does not disappoint when it comes to security measures too. All plans include free SSL, weekly backups, and InterShield protection to guarantee that extra security.
  • Lastly, InterServer is one of a few providers that offer a very affordable month-to-month billing option. You can choose to test the provider by choosing a monthly option for only $2.50 with a discount for the first month. The renewal will bring it up to $7/mo.

Simply put, InterServer is not the most hyped-up provider in the market, but it delivers what you came for, and that’s hosting services. Even better, you get pretty generous resources for a very affordable price.

Now looking at the plans, InterServer has 3 priced between $2.50/month (with a discount) and $19.95/month.

While these numbers are a little confusing, one thing is clear – all plans include unlimited storage, bandwidth, emails as well as free SSL and CDN. More so, security tools like automatic backups and InterShield protection are also included.

So why are there 3 of them if most things are the same? Well, as each plan offers a little bit more “server space,” each plan is just a little bit more powerful.

  • Standard – is best for a small-to-medium website or a portfolio. This plan is the best one to host an art website.
  • Boost 2 – is great for art sites expecting higher traffic.
  • Boost 4 – is most fit for sites with relatively high traffic. Packs the most power out of the three.
