A lot of people who have developed websites would have multiple domain names they’re hosting on one shared server. This allows them to keep their costs low but this isn’t ideal for securing your websites ranking on Google, Bing, or any other search engine. I’ve written this article to offer the best web hosting for multiple domains and explain the advantages of using a different hosting account for each domain.
Best Web Hosting For Multiple Domains
What We Look for in the Best Web Hosting for Multiple Domains
In my search for the best-value web hosting services for multiple domains, I’ve compared them on the following:
Number of domains per plan: While you may not need a thousand domains and websites, the ability to host an unlimited number of either without any restrictions is a plus.
Domain management and pricing: When you own multiple domains, easy domain management becomes a priority. You’ll want a lot of extension options and the ability to easily transfer current domains and connect new ones at a fair price.
Sufficient resources: If you’re hosting multiple domain names that lead to more than one website, server resources are important. You’ll want a good amount of storage space and bandwidth.
Reliable support: Back-end problems with email, DNS, uptime, or other server-related services are not uncommon. If something isn’t working properly, you’ll want a tech crew at the ready to take care of things.
- Web.com – Easy-to-Use Hosting for Multiple Local or Medium-Sized Business Sites
Detail of Web.com’s homepage
Web.com specializes in web hosting for beginners
If you’re a “non-techie” looking to set up between two and ten sites for a series of online blogs or a small-to-medium-sized ecommerce business, you should consider Web.com. You’ll find straightforward hosting plans divided into three tiers with the choice of WordPress or a web builder.
The Plus and Premium plans each allow for up to five and ten sites, respectively, so these plans aren’t suited to launching huge online networks. However, Web.com’s hosting packages give you more than enough storage. You also get unmetered bandwidth to accommodate what will hopefully be growing site traffic.
The best prices can be had with a three-year commitment, and the one-year plans are also very competitive. Still, as with most budget hosts, you’ll have to watch out for the steep renewal fees at the end of your first term. It’s not the cheapest web host out there, but it’s very close — and it might be the most consumer-friendly service available for the US market.

- SiteGround – Easy to Use Control Panel
SiteGround’s GrowBig and GoGeek shared plans have unlimited websites, unlimited bandwidth, advanced on-demand backups, and WordPress staging. In other words, the works.
Although I’m not usually a fan of premium shared hosting, SiteGround’s top-tier offer is worth considering. For a slightly higher price, you get 40GB of storage, pre-installed Git, staging, and a white-label hosting option, which can be helpful if you build sites for clients.
bluehost multiple domains
The primary domain on your account will always be pointed directly to the public_html directory. As you assign additional domains to your account, you can assign them as either addon or parked domains.
An addon domain allows you to specify a directory inside of public_html, which the domain will point to. A parked domain will point directly to public_html the same way your primary domain does.
For a more detailed description of the addon and parked domains, please see Parked Domains vs. Addon Domains.
When assigning a domain as an addon domain, you are allowed to use the same directory as another addon domain. This will result in both addon domains pointing to the same folder and website content.
Assigning Two Domains To One Folder
Before proceeding to the instruction below, please take note that Legacy accounts will feature a horizontal navigation bar at the top of the screen, while Bluerock account users will see a vertical navigation menu on the left-hand side of the screen. To learn more, please see Rock vs. Legacy to determine which steps to follow.
Bluerock
- Log in to your Bluehost control panel.
- Click the Domains tab from the side navigation menu to the left.
- Click the Assign section from the submenu.
- Choose if you will assign a new domain to your account or one that is already associated with your account.
- If you are assigning a new domain, you must verify the ownership of the domain name.
- Choose Addon vs. Parked
- Addon Domain: An addon domain name functions as its own domain and website, separate from your primary domain.
- Parked Domain: A parked domain name will load the same website as your primary domain.
- Unassigned Domain: An unassigned domain is attached to your account but does not point to a website or have a dedicated folder. Choose this option if you’re not ready to host the domain yet. You can assign the domain as an addon or parked when you’re ready.
